Will my fiance go to jail for driving on a suspended license?
My fiance and I are getting married in 2 weeks. He has a suspended license for driving without insurance (he didn’t know it had been canceled). He wants to get the restricted license but we don’t have the money until after the wedding. I’m so nervous he will get pulled over and be in jail on our wedding day! What are the chances of this happening if he has a printout of his DMV appointment and his insurance info (SR22) with him?
I’ll assume that you’re in California from your description. Usually driving while suspended will result if fines and another suspension for a few months, but no arrest. The real risk you run is that in California as well as in my state they WILL impound the car for 30 days and you’ll be charged the tow and impound storage fees for that time. That’s about 1300 bucks in my state…Calif is probably higher. So….you have to weigh the potential risks/costs against driving suspended.
